A: It depends on the method of butt augmentation and how big you make it. I perform a LOT of buttock augmentations at my Atlanta area surgery center. My favorite method to reshape the backside is the Brazilian Butt Lift. This involves liposuction to reshape the waist and abdomen and using that fat to enhance the buttocks and/or hips. This method is very natural in appearance, feel and movement. It also has the added benefit of liposuction to give beautiful curves. Buttock implants can also be placed for fullness – depending on the size, they might not move as naturally.

Are silicone butt injections safe and how does it work?

Are silicone butt injections safe and how does it work?
Q: I want to add volume to my butt tucks. I been interested in a bbl but i been ready alot of reviews on fat transfer. Most are not successful
A: Silicone injections are simply not a safe option. The Brazilian Butt Lift, or fat transfer to the butt, is a great procedure for a lot of women looking to enhance their backsides. I perform this surgery multiple times each week in my Atlanta area surgery center. I use liposuction to create an hourglass shape and harvest fat from unwanted areas and inject this fat into the buttocks to create fullness. My patients have experienced long-lasting results that look and feel natural. I also regularly see patients who ask me to correct devastating results of silicone and hydrogel butt shots. Many of them are deformed and in chronic pain. Unfortunately, some women who undergo these dangerous procedures even die from complications. Even if you decide a BBL is not right for you, please do not risk your health and even your life on dangerous butt shots. Check out Essence magazine’s November 2012 issue – there is a heartbreaking story of a woman who suffered disastrous results after having butt injections.

Hello doctor, my question is – Can I use my friends body fat to do my Brazilian Butt Lift?

Because she would love to loses the belly fat an I would love to get bbl am a 110 in weight

A: Unfortunately you cannot have someone else’s fat transferred into your body. Fat is a living tissue and would be rejected by your body just like an unmatched organ would. Tissue rejection can be quite dangerous to you so this is not possible. I have performed butt enhancements on many slender patients. There are options available to you like gaining weight or combining your BBL with a small implant.

Recovery time after BBL

How much recovery time is recommended before returning to work after a Brazilian Butt Lift?

I recommend my Brazilian Butt Lift patients take 2 weeks off work to recover from surgery. I really don’t like for you to sit or lay on your butt for 2 weeks after fat grafting. This gives the fat time to “take.” Fat is living tissue that requires a blood supply. It takes about 2 weeks for that blood supply to be established. Until then, the fat is vulnerable. 2 weeks will also give you time to follow up in our office and most patients are well past the point of requiring narcotic pain medication.

Can you have a Brazilian Butt Lift a year after having abdominal Liposuction?

Can you have a Brazilian Butt Lift a year after having abdominal Liposuction?

Q: I am 5’10 and 180lbs. I really want to have a BBL, but I had abdominal lipo a year ago. I am extremely unhappy with the lipo results because I still have a belly and I wasn’t fat to begin with. Although I’m not huge, I believe I have enough fat throughout my body to transfer to my butt. I was told I was too thin by one dr, but would like to get other opinions. Thanks!

A: It is possible to have a Brazilian Butt Lift even though you previously had liposuction, but it can be tricky. Secondary liposuction is typically more difficult than the first procedure due to scar tissue. Also, there will, of course, be less fat to harvest. Depending on the look you are trying to achieve (i.e., how big you want your butt) it may still be possible. Try getting a second opinion from someone who has performed a lot of fat grafting procedures.

What is the highest number of CCs that can be taken out during Liposuction for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

What is the highest number of CCs that can be taken out during Liposuction for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Q: I want an hourglass figure. I am fully aware that with my wide shoulders and no hips, I will need to add a lot of fat to the hips. I also want a butt! Im concerned that there is not going to be enough fat to accomplish this or that there is a limitation as to how much can be taken out. Ideally, i would like about 1100CCs per buttock. To accomplish the hourglass figure, there is about 1.5 inch difference so that my shoulders and hips align.

A: 5000 cc is the maximum amount of fat (and fluid) that can safely be harvested in one liposuction procedure. I have frequently transferred over 1000 cc of fat into each buttock and/or hip. I certainly understand the balanced, shapely look you are trying to achieve. In my Atlanta area surgery center, I tell my patients that I cannot guarantee a volume of fat that I am going to transfer. The butt can only hold so much fat and I cannot predict just what volume that will be before surgery! Talk to your surgeon about the look you want. Bring wish pictures and look at your doctor’s before and after pictures. Look for someone with a lot of experience with fat grafting to the butt and hips and who seems to understand the look you are going for.
