Enhance Your Curves with a Fuller, Rounder, More Sculpted Buttock Shape
About Brazillian Butt Lift (BBL)
Buttock augmentation, or gluteal augmentation surgery, is designed increase the fullness, roundness and projection of the buttocks. It helps to improve the balance of your overall figure, while giving you renewed self-confidence and an Enhanced self-image. When the buttock augmentation is done using fat transfer from other parts of the body, itās often referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL. The buttock augmentation procedure includes implants, fat grafting or a combination of both to enhance the size of the buttocks.
The BBL, or butt augmentation is a popular procedure that not only adds volume to your buttock, but also helps to lift and shape it. Ā You will have a fuller, more youthful looking butt that looks great in pants, skirts, bathing suits or even nothing at all.
How a BBL is Performed?

Step 1 ā Anesthesia
You will discuss anesthesia options with Dr. Jimerson, including sedation and general anesthesia. The safest option will be determined based on your procedure, medical history, and surgical plan.
Step 2 ā The incision
Fat will be taken from the donor site (abdomen, love handles, back) using liposuction. A small incision is made and Dr. Jimerson will use a cannula to extract the fat. The fat is then processed, and prepared for grafting.
Step 3 ā Donor Area Sculpting
Liposuction is not only used to collect fat. It also helps contour the waist, lower back, flanks, and abdomen to improve the overall buttock shape and body proportions.
Step 4 ā Fat Collection
The harvested fat is collected in a sterile system so it can be processed and prepared for transfer.
Step 5 ā Fat Processing and Purification
The collected fat is processed to separate healthy fat cells from excess fluid, blood, and oil.
Step 6 ā Fat Preparation for Transfer
The purified fat is placed into small syringes for controlled, precise placement.
Step 7 ā Buttock Shaping and Fat Grafting
The purified fat is carefully placed into the buttocks to improve shape, volume, projection, and contour. Modern BBL safety guidance emphasizes placing fat in the subcutaneous tissue above the gluteal muscle, not deep into the muscle.
Step 8 ā Strategic Fat Distribution
Fat is placed in multiple small areas to create smoother, more natural-looking contours and help support fat survival.
Step 9 ā Immediate Result and Recovery
Results are visible immediately, but swelling is expected. Final shape continues to improve as swelling decreases and the transferred fat stabilizes.
Step 10 ā Aftercare
Patients should avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for the early recovery period, use a Boppy-style pillow when cleared, wear compression garments as directed, stay hydrated, and follow all post-operative instructions. Your webinar specifically explains that pressure can affect the new fatās blood supply, which is why sitting restrictions are emphasized.
Am I a candidate for a BBL?
As with most elective cosmetic procedures, there are several basic criteria that determine if youāre a good candidate for the buttock augmentation procedure. They include:
⢠18 years or older
⢠In good emotional and physical health
⢠Unhappy with the size and appearance of buttock
⢠Have tried fitness routines and not achieved your appearance goals
⢠Your buttocks are not symmetrical
⢠You have realistic expectations on what the surgery can do for you
⢠You must understand that this procedure is for aesthetic improvement and not perfection.
⢠Youāre a non-smoker (smoking will impair the healing process and can alter your healing and results) smokers must stop completely a minimum of 4 weeks prior to surgery.
How should I prepare for my BBL procedure?
- Prior to the surgery, you’ll have lab tests, and the doctor may have you take new medications or adjust the medications that youāre currently taking.
- Avoid taking medications that can increase bleeding, like aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and various herbal supplements.
- If you smoke, you must stop several weeks prior the surgery, as it can severely impeded the healing process.
- Finally, you should arrange to have someone available to drive you home after your surgery, and to be with you for the first night.
What Does The Aftercare & Recovery Look Like?
After your buttock augmentation surgery, you will have dressings and/or bandages placed to cover the incisions. In addition, Dr. Jimerson may place elastic bandages or compression garments to help reduce swelling, which must be worn 24/7. Different buttock augmentation procedures have different recovery instructions.
For a buttock augmentation with implants, youāll need to wear a specific support garment for up to 3 weeks following the surgery. This gives support as well as allows the skin to drape properly following surgery.
For a buttock augmentation with fat grafting, youāll have to avoid any prolonged sitting for two weeks or longer. This is very important! Sitting can damage the fat, and ruin the procedure. Youāll also have to sleep face down or on your side. In addition, youāll need to wear garments that provide support and compress the areas that were treated with liposuction.
Often drains are placed in the incisions to help remove the excess fluids or blood. Dr. Jimerson will prescribe pain medications to keep you comfortable after the procedure. He will also discuss when you can resume normal activities and exercise. While recovery periods will vary, most patients can resume exercise and regular activities in six to eight weeks.
How Long Will My Results Last?
You can expect to see results from your buttock augmentation surgery immediately after the procedure. Final results will be seen once all the swelling reduces over time.. You can expect your results to last a long time, as long as you keep your weight stable and stay fit. If you had a buttock augmentation using fat transfer, please note that it might take up to a full year to see the final results. Also, your body will absorb some of the fat transferred, so the initial shape may change a bit. Be sure to follow Dr. Jimersonās instruction following your procedure to obtain optimal results.
