  • Your breasts are heavy and the nipple points downward
  • One breast is much larger than the other one
  • You have back, neck and shoulder pain from the weight of your breasts
  • You enjoy relatively good health without any medical conditions that could jeopardize your healing or present surgical risks

• You’re a non-smoker (smoking can impair the healing process), and you have realistic expectations on what the surgery can do for you

After your surgery you will be able to see the results almost immediately, but you will experience swelling and bruising. This can be helped with a cold compress, placing it on for 20 minutes, then leaving it off for 40 minutes. Your pain will be managed by the medication prescribed for you by Dr. Jimerson.Complete recovery can take several weeks to several months, but most patients return to work in about one week. You will need to wear a surgical support bra for 4-6 weeks after your procedure. Total healing can take up to six months. During that time you will need to avoid bending over or lifting anything over 5 pounds. You will be able to get back to your exercise regime in 4-6 weeks.

For the procedure, an incision is made in each breast, so that all excess skin, fat and tissue can be removed. Depending on your particular situation, liposuction may be used to remove additional fatty deposits.

If your breasts are extremely large and the nipple is pointing downward, it may be repositioned to give you the most pleasing appearance. Finally, the incisions are sutured together. A compression garment or surgical support bra will be placed to reduce swelling and help maintain your new shape.
