Skin Rejuvenation

What is skin rejuvenation and resurfacing?

Skin irregularities can appear on your face or other areas of your body, due to aging, sun exposure, skin disorders and heredity. These can be wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation changes or visible blood vessels.

Other issues may include loss of kin tone, and you may develop cellulite on certain areas of your body.

Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing are designed to treat a variety of problems, including static wrinkles, which are wrinkles that don’t change when you move your face, and dynamic wrinkles, those expression lines that appear as folds in the skin when it’s not moving, and deepen when you change expressions. Other conditions treated include pigmentation, scars, vascular conditions like bold vessels or vascular lesions and loss of skin tone.

Cost for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing
Costs can vary based on individual patient needs and the complexity and amount of time required to perform the procedure.

The costs involved in this procedure include facility/hospital fees, medical tests, Dr. Jimerson’s fee and any medication or post-operative garments that may be required. Our staff will provide you with a detailed cost estimate for your procedure.

Are you a candidate for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing?

As with most elective cosmetic procedures, there are several basic criteria that determine if you’re a good candidate for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing. They include:

  • You enjoy relatively good health without any medical conditions that could jeopardize your healing or present surgical risks
  • You’re a non-smoker (smoking can impair the healing process), and you have realistic expectations on what the surgery can do for you
The Recovery Process
After your skin rejuvenation and resurfacing procedure, you’ll be given instructions on how to care for your skin. You’ll also be given information about how long the results may last, specific concerns to watch for and when to schedule your follow up appointment.

Depending on the technology used and the treatment administered, your results will vary. Be aware tht following your treatment your skin will continue to age, leaving you vulnerable to developing similar conditions that you had treated successfully.

The Procedure
Different options are available with skin rejuvenation and resurfacing, including laser, light and other energy-based treatments to chemical peels, as well as other non-ablative methods. Dr. Jimerson will choose the procedure that’s best for you based on your condition and skin color and type. This will reduce the risk of additional pigmentation, or having a loss of pigmentation that produces whitening of the skin.

Laser resurfacing can treat the entire face for fine lines and wrinkles, or Dr. Jimerson can treat specific areas, like around the eyes or on the upper lip.

Anesthesia is not required. If you have pigmentation disorders including sun and age spots, laser and light treatments, or specially formulated chemical peels will be used.

If you have acne scars and similar conditions, then laser and fractional resurfacing, or mechanical resurfacing like dermabrasion or dermaplaning will be used. It all depends on what other skin conditions you may have.

In order to achieve the optimal results, repeated treatments are required. A series of treatments will be scheduled.

Risks involved with skin rejuvenation and resurfacing

As with any procedure, there are some potential risks or complications. You have to determine if the benefits that you’ll obtain from your procedure outweigh the risks involved.

Dr. Jimerson and his trained staff will do everything possible to minimize risks and complications. Risks may include:

  • Burns and scarring • Infection • Pigmentation irregularities • Skin surface irregularities • Skin textural changes
