Laser Hair Removal
Here’s how it works
Laser hair removal is a hair removal procedure that can be used effectively on most any part of the body. It uses highly concentrated light to penetrate hair follicles, which will inhibit future hair growth.
The process works only on actively growing hair follicles, so it could take several treatments to produce a significant amount of hair reduction. Because laser hair removal only slows and inhibits hair growth, there is no assurance that it will be permanent. You may require periodic maintenance.
Cost
The costs involved in this procedure include facility fees, medical tests, cost of the PMMA filer, Dr. Jimerson’s fee and any medication or any additional treatment that may be required. Our staff will provide you with a detailed cost estimate for your procedure.
Risks involved in laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is relatively safe. As with any injection or procedure, risks and side effects can occur. They include:
- Mild swelling around hair follicles • Changes in pigment, but these are usually temporary • Slight redness of the skin • Temporary skin irritation, including blistering, crusting or scarring
If you have darker skin, special care will be taken; a less intensive laser will be employed. And if you’ve tanned, gone to a tanning both or even used a spray tan, it is recommended that you avoid laser hair removal treatments so there won’t be damage to your skin.
Be sure to follow Dr. Jimerson’s instruction following your injections to obtain optimal results.
The procedure
Because your hair grows in cycles, you will probably need three to four laser hair removal treatments to achieve significant hair reduction.
