Kimberly Miles drove more than 100 miles from Columbus, Georgia, to Atlanta, in search of something sheās been dreaming about for years: dimples. The real deal, just like her teenage son.
āAnd, I always had an urge to have dimples,ā says Miles. āI always wanted dimples because my son had them. They just brighten your face, your smile. They just add a whole demeanor to your look.ā
So, Miles has turned to Dr. Andrew Jimerson II of āDr. Curvesā Plastic Surgery for a ādimpleplasty.ā
And, yes, there is such a thing.
āIām looking for a deeper (dimple) look, not too big,ā says Miles, ā Just right for my face.ā
The surgical dimple trend began a few years ago in Asia, and for the last few months, Dr. Jimerson says more and more patients like Miles are wanting to up their cuteness factor with surgically-created cheek indentations. Patients pay between $900 and $1,200 for a minimally-invasive, scar-less procedure that takes about 20 minutes. Kimberly Miles allowed us to sit in on her dimpleplasty.
After another plastic surgery used a marker to map out where Milesā new dimples will go, her cheeks were numbed with a local anesthetic, like the kind used by dentists. Then, Dr. Jimerson went in through her mouth and made small incisions on the inside of her cheeks. He used sutures to reach in and grab the underside of her cheek skin tissue, pulling it inward towards her mouth, and tethering it to the tissue below.
This creates a dimple on each side of her mouth that will relax and look more natural with time, Jimerson says. Still, thereās a small, but very important, catch to these surgically-created dimples.
āSo, I think what people really need to understand is, āIs this dimple going to be permanent,ā Dr. Jimerson says.
Because, as much as Kimberly wants her new dimples, sheās going to have them 24/7, for a few months.
āInitially, right after the procedure, whether youāre smiling or not, youāre going to have a permanent dimple,ā Dr. Jimerson explains. āAnd, this will be present for a couple of months. So you have to be very comfortable with having a permanent dimple.ā
And, when her procedure is over, and Kimberly Miles gets her first look in the mirror at her new dimples, sheās more than comfortable. Dimples, at long last.

In order to ensure that there is minimal visible scarring, Dr. Jimerson has several incision options that he will discuss with you.
All incisions are used to insert the breast implant, regardless of the type used. They include periareolar incision, which is made around the areola.
The inframammary incision is made underneath the breast, in the area where it meets the body. In the transaxillary incision, access for the implant is made underneath the arm, in the armpit area.
There are two options for placing the implant; one is under the pectoral muscle, the other is right behind the breast tissue, over the pectoral muscle. Ā This will depend on the type of implant, your body type, how much increase in size is desired and Dr. Jimersonās preference.
Once the implants are inserted, the incisions are closed using sutures, surgical tape or surgical glue. Youāll be able to see the results immediately after surgery, but some swelling will be present.
You will discuss various anesthesia options with Dr. Jimerson, including sedation and general anesthesia. He will determine the best type of anesthesia based on the procedures, your health history and his preferences.
Dr. Jimerson has several options to use during the breast lift surgery, which will depend on your breast size and shape, the current position of your areola, how much your breast is sagging the quality of your skin.
Options include an incision around the areola; around the areola and then vertically down to the breast crease; and an incision around the areola, down to the breast crease and then horizontally along the breast crease. After the incision is made, the breast tissue is reshaped and lifted to enhance the breast contour and firmness. The nipple and areola is repositioned to a natural, more youthful position. If required, Dr. Jimerson will reduce the areolas by excising skin along the perimeter. Finally, excess skin is removed from the breast to make up for the loss of elasticity.
The incisions are then closed, and sutures are placed in layers deep within the breast tissue to provide support. In addition to sutures, Dr. Jimerson may use skin adhesives and surgical tape to close the incision.

Labia Majora Reduction
The outer vaginal lips, labia majora, can become stretched as a result of pregnancy or weight gain. Ā When the weight is lost, the labial skin does not always contract leaving loose or sagging lips.

Procedure
The liposuction is performed using tumescent or ultrasound ā assisted technique (VASER liposuction). Ā In either case tumescent fluid (a mixture of sterile saline, lidocaine and epinephrine) is injected into the treatment area and then this fluid along with fat is removed using a small cannula. Ā Small incisions are typically placed in the groin. Ā Scarring is minimal due to the small size of the incisions and typically no suturing is required.
