Q: Not sure if I am a candidate for BBL or not. Wondering about potential wait times between the two, as recovery for both are counter-intuitive. For BA, am interested in augmenting mainly for shape and not size. Considering BBL mostly for silhouette reasons – concerned about looking “top heavy” after BA. Looking for smaller waist/rounded hips, more volume and projection on buttocks, less “square” look. Also curious about how either procedure could be affected by future pregnancies? thanks!

A: I actually combine breast augmentation and the Brazilian Butt Lift quite often in my practice. Recovery IS tricky since you will have to lie on your side. It is totally acceptable to separate them if that works best for you. I think you could have a great result with a Brazilian butt lift. It is my favorite procedure to reshape the midsection of the body. You are a good size and could have a flatter tummy, reduce your love handles and achieve a shaplier backside! If you are not looking to increase the size of your breasts dramatically, you might consider fat transfer to the breasts as well. Fat grafting to the butt is not affected by pregnancy, but it is affected by weight fluctuations. As you gain and lose body fat, the transferred fat will grow and shrink. Your breast size and breast shape could certainly be affected by pregnancy and truthfully, it is impossible to predict what that effect will be. Some women opt to delay breast procedures until after their families are complete for just that reason.

My Father Has Lost a Lot of Weight is It Possible for my to Give Him my Excess Fat?

My Father Has Lost a Lot of Weight is It Possible for my to Give Him my Excess Fat?

Q: My father has lost a lot of weight. Is it possible for me to give him my excess fat?

A: Unfortunately, you can’t give your fat to anyone else. Fat is a living tissue and transferring it between two individuals would likely lead to rejection. There is also a risk of infection. You can, however, use your fat in other areas of your body. I frequently transfer fat to the buttocks and breasts in my surgery center just outside Atlanta.

Is It Ok to Do a BBL if I Previously Have Had Minimal Lipo on Stomach?

Is It Ok to Do a BBL if I Previously Have Had Minimal Lipo on Stomach?

Q: I’m 5’6 155lbs I hope that I am a good candidate for a bbl. I have had some lipo done when I got a BA and it was very minimal and the results weren’t anything great I have gained about 10 lbs since then and I have a lil bit of cottage cheese looking to my stomach. It was much smoother after i got the lipo but i recently gained that weight. Will this smooth out over time if I continue to get a BBL? Please help Doctors!

A: Yes, you can still have a BBL even if you have had liposuction in the past. In fact, many of my Brazilian Butt Lift patients have had previous liposuction. BUT, it is unlikely that further liposuction on your abdomen will smooth it out, in fact, it could make the lumpiness more apparent. Liposuction can lead to formation of fibrous tissue – almost like a scar underneath the skin. This can lead to an uneven appearance. More liposuction in the same area might cause more fibrous tissue to form.

Do I Have Enough Fat to Accomplish my Desired Results with the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)? (photo)

Do I Have Enough Fat to Accomplish my Desired Results with the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)? (photo)

: Hello! my dream is to get a BBL and I wonder if I have enough fat to achieve the results of my wish pics below. I don’t know how many cc I would need but I know I want a booty with projectile with smooth hourglass hips, again, like in the wish pics. I am 5′ 8” and 137.5 lbs. Should i try to gain weight? Will the fat i gain be stable and last after the BBL? Hope you can help me. Thanks!!

A: I think you could have a great result from a Brazilian Butt Lift based on your photos. However, I do not think your wish pics are achievable given your size. While you do have fat to harvest on your torso, you currently do not have a lot of projection of your butt. I think you could have a great figure with fat grafting to the butt and hips, but you wouldn’t look like the pictures you provided.

What Can I Do to Enhance my Butt Without Getting a Fat Transfer? I’m Not Fat Enough to Use my Own Fat.

What Can I Do to Enhance my Butt Without Getting a Fat Transfer? I’m Not Fat Enough to Use my Own Fat.

Q: What can I do to enhance my butt without getting a fat transfer? I’m not fat enough to use my own fat.

A: The approved surgical options for buttock enlargement are fat transfer to the butt and butt implants. Without a picture it is hard to tell what would be your best surgical option. I have had a few thin patients who truly had little or no fat to transfer and in those cases I have used buttock implants alone. I find those cases are rare, however. Most women do have some fat stores in their mid section and/or thighs that can be used to augment the butt. It really depends on your build and your expectations.
