Can I recover from my tummy tuck on my own?

Q: So I have next to no support in my decision to go forward with my tummy tuck procedure. I have nobody to pick me up, nothing.. am i crazy to want to cab it home and heal on my own? Since all of my family and friends are extremely judgmental, how long should I stay hidden before I can hide the fact that i went through with it? keep in mind i wont be needing any muscle repair. I don’t have an extreme amount of extra skin so it will be stretched pretty tight adding some liposuction in there as well. thanks!

A: You will need an adult caregiver for AT LEAST the first 24 hours after surgery. You can’t just get in a cab and head home alone. You will be on heavy pain meds and moving around (even just to the bathroom) will be difficult at first. You will probably need help with your first dressing change. I will not discharge patients from my surgery center without an adult to care for them. If you don’t want to enlist a friend or family member, consider hiring a private duty nurse or going to a recovery center for the first few days after your tummy tuck.

Q: Can you have BBL and have fat transferred to my breasts in the same surgery? I’m pretty sure I have enough fat.

A:Yes! The beauty of fat transfer is that it can be transferred to almost any spot in the body. The limitations are the amount of fat you have relative to the results you want to achieve.

Which should be done first, a tattoo removal from my buttock, or Brazilian butt lift?

Which should be done first, a tattoo removal from my buttock, or Brazilian butt lift?

Q: I have a tattoo on my butt which I plan to have removed, but I also would like to get a Brazilian butt lift. Does it matter what order I do this in? I’m just thinking about potential complications from scar tissue… Thanks!!

A: It doesn’t matter at all which procedure you have first. One won’t affect the other at all.

I plan on getting a tummy tuck and breast implant. I would like to know how doctors determine if you need a breast lift.

I plan on getting a tummy tuck and breast implant. I would like to know how doctors determine if you need a breast lift.

Q: I have always felt like one of my nipples is a slight higher than the other, is there anything to do for that? Also with a tummy tuck will my “love handles” be smaller? Thank you!

A: In general, the start of any breast enhancement procedure usually begins with determining nipple location. Proper location of the nipple is determined by several methods, but an easy way to do this on your own is to stand in front of a mirror and place your thumb under your breast in the fold between your breast and chest wall. Next, use your index finger to pinch your breast. In general, the index finger marks the location that your nipple should be. If the center of your nipple is above this point, you most likely don’t need a breast lift. However, if center of your nipple is at or below this position, you will look best with some type of breast lifting procedure. Remember that while your breasts are sisters, they aren’t twins. No one’s breasts are perfectly symmetrical. With that in mind, any asymmetry will be more noticeable once your breasts are enlarged. It is possible to reposition one or both nipples surgically.

A tummy tuck alone will flatten your upper and lower abdomen, but it doesn’t address your sides. Consider liposuction on your flanks to get rid of the lovehandles. Best of luck!
