Long-term planning for Tummy tuck?

Q: I have had 3 c-sections. I used to have really great abs, but after number 3, I still have enough of a tummy to look pregnant. I’m at a healthy weight and I like to exercise. My youngest is now 2 and I want to plan ahead to fix this when he is more independent and I can manage the recovery time. What kinds of exercises and preparations should I be making to get the best results? Pilates? Does any of that matter? I’ve got about a year before I’m ready. Advice?

A: It sounds like you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck– you are in good shape and at a healthy weight and are looking to restore your midsection after pregnancies. About a year before is a great time to start meeting with plastic surgeons. It will give you a chance to get a professional opinion about the best course to take and will give you plenty of time to arrange for post-operative childcare and time off work. Exercise and diet are important to good overall health but won’t repair the damage that multiple pregnancies can wreak on your body.

Q: What are the implications/issues if someone has a baby after a tummy tuck besides ruining the results from the tummy tuck? Thank you!

A: You have already stated the only implications/issues in your question. Pregnancy after a tummy tuck may ruin the results. A successful term pregnancy is absolutely achievable after a tummy tuck. Your abdomen will expand to accommodate your growing uterus.

Will an extended tummy tuck lift the pubic area?

Will an extended tummy tuck lift the pubic area?

Q: The top of my pubic area kinda sags a little

A: During a full tummy tuck, the area just above the vagina (the mons pubis) is generally lifted as well. Be sure to address your concerns with your plastic surgeon prior to surgery. Some people opt for liposuction of this area. A tummy tuck generally lifts the skin, but only liposuction will remove excess fat.

Do I have to pay not only for the BBL but lipo for the belly/thighs/back fat?

Do I have to pay not only for the BBL but lipo for the belly/thighs/back fat?

Q: If I’m planing on getting BBL an they have to take fat from belly thighs back . I have to pay for not only the BBL plus lipo for the fat ?

A: Pricing varies with each surgeon. In general, a Brazilian Butt Lift includes liposuction to harvest the fat needed to enlarge the buttocks and reshape the torso. The areas that I liposuction vary with the individual, but most commonly include the tummy, love handles and lower back. Many of my patients desire additional liposuction while they are already under anesthesia – this is performed at an additional cost.

Can I recover from my tummy tuck on my own?

Can I recover from my tummy tuck on my own?

Q: So I have next to no support in my decision to go forward with my tummy tuck procedure. I have nobody to pick me up, nothing.. am i crazy to want to cab it home and heal on my own? Since all of my family and friends are extremely judgmental, how long should I stay hidden before I can hide the fact that i went through with it? keep in mind i wont be needing any muscle repair. I don’t have an extreme amount of extra skin so it will be stretched pretty tight adding some liposuction in there as well. thanks!

A: You will need an adult caregiver for AT LEAST the first 24 hours after surgery. You can’t just get in a cab and head home alone. You will be on heavy pain meds and moving around (even just to the bathroom) will be difficult at first. You will probably need help with your first dressing change. I will not discharge patients from my surgery center without an adult to care for them. If you don’t want to enlist a friend or family member, consider hiring a private duty nurse or going to a recovery center for the first few days after your tummy tuck.
