I’m 58, healthy, not overweight, do you think I’m too old for a tummy tuck?

I’m 58, healthy, not overweight, do you think I’m too old for a tummy tuck?

Absolutely not! I often perform cosmetic surgery – including tummy tucks – on women in their 50’s and 60’s! As long as you are healthy, your age does not put you at additional risk compared to younger patients. I always ask my patients, regardless of age, to see their regular doctor prior to surgery to make sure their are no underlying medical problems that could pose a risk during or after surgery. Best of luck!

Is now a good time? My question is can I have a v-bac after a tummy tuck and lipo?

Q: I am 25 year old mother of 1 and it is not in my plans to have children for another two years or more My first was an emergency c-section and I am interested in the mommy makeover I am currently at 150 lbs and would like to be at 125 Every time I loose weight my belly hangs from the front and becomes more wrinkled I loose all motivation to loose the weight My question is can I have a v-bac [vaginal birth after Cesarian] after a tummy tuck and lipo? Should I loose more weight before I proceed with the surgery to reach my goal?

A: You raise a couple of great issues with your question. To begin, I recommend that you get to and maintain your desired weight before considering plastic surgery. Pregnancy stretches the abdominal skin and muscles. It is not at all uncommon for you to have some skin laxity and muscle weakness even after losing the pregnancy weight. A tummy tuck repairs the damaged muscles and removes excess skin giving you a nice flat abdomen. I don’t recommend a tummy tuck to women who are planning to have children in the future. While the surgery does NOT affect your ability to conceive, have a healthy pregnancy or interfere with delivery at all, a future pregnancy will likely lead to your being in the exact same predicament again – loose skin, lax muscles. Essentially, pregnancy can undo the tummy tuck. It makes more sense to me to wait until your family is complete and then pursue cosmetic surgery.

How much recovery time is recommended before returning to work after a Brazilian Butt Lift?

How much recovery time is recommended before returning to work after a Brazilian Butt Lift?

I recommend my Brazilian Butt Lift patients take 2 weeks off work to recover from surgery. I really don’t like for you to sit or lay on your butt for 2 weeks after fat grafting. This gives the fat time to ā€œtake.ā€ Fat is living tissue that requires a blood supply. It takes about 2 weeks for that blood supply to be established. Until then, the fat is vulnerable. 2 weeks will also give you time to follow up in our office and most patients are well past the point of requiring narcotic pain medication.

What procedure would be best for me to get a flat stomach?

What procedure would be best for me to get a flat stomach?

Q: I’m 5’5 and my start weight was 200 lbs. I had changed my eating habits and started exercising back in August 2014. I had lost 20lbs between August and October. The problem is that I am stuck at 180lbs. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or what else to do to lose weight. I’m just trying to get a flat stomach and not lose the curves that I have. I included pics of my starting weight and now.

A: Congratulations on your weight loss. A tummy tuck and liposuction will flatten your abdomen, cinch in your waist, but still preserve your breast, butt and hips. It will not lead to further weight loss.
