Q: Is there any cancer related risk to getting fat transferred to the breast?

A: We have no evidence that fat transfer to the breast causes breast cancer or in anyway changes your cancer risk. It is possible that the surgery could produce benign calcifications that could be confused with breast cancer on a mammogram. This could lead to your needing further investigation or even a biopsy.

I’m 210 lbs and considering a Tummy Tuck. Is it advisable to perform a tummy tuck at this stage or should I first lose weight?

Hello, I am 5’6 currently my weight is 210 pounds, I have a large amount of saggy skin in my abdomen after 3 kids. Is it advisable to perform a tummy tuck at this stage or should I first loose some more weight? thank you

There are several reasons that I advise you to lose weight first. I ALWAYS advise my tummy tuck patients that they should be at their ideal weight before surgery. As you lose weight and volume, your skin becomes loose. If you have a tummy tuck first, you will like need another one after you lose weight. At your current weight, your surgical time will be increased. It is harder and more time consuming to perform the surgery on an overweight person than on one at their ideal body weight. This increased surgical time increases your risk for complications during and after the procedure. I also find there are more recovery and wound healing issues in overweight patients.

I want my breasts done but I’m concerned about a doctor telling me he can do all three procedures (lift, reduction, implants)

I want my breasts done but I’m concerned about a doctor telling me he can do all three procedures (lift, reduction, implants)

Q: I don’t have really big breast but they do hang and also has a good amount of tissue still what I mean about a good amount of tissue they don’t look like dry fruits. Is there a such thing as three surgeries in one breast lift breast reduction following by breast implants?

A: It can certainly sound confusing to combine these 3 procedures, but it actually does make sense for some women. The breast lift will reposition your nipple and the breast mound to the proper place on your chest. In order to shape the breast sometimes some of your breast tissue will need to be removed (especially on the sides and/or lower portion of the breast). An implant can be placed to give upper pole fullness. If you simply have the lift and reshaping done without the implant, you would likely decrease your breast size because some of your current size is excess skin and fat which would be removed during the lift.

21 year old mom looking to get my body back by tummy tuck and breast surgery.

21 year old mom looking to get my body back by tummy tuck and breast surgery.

Q: Hello, I am a 21 year old mom of one and am very unhappy with my body. I am wondering what my options are and what doctors would suggest. I was a C -cup that didn’t need a bra. I would love to be that way again, but maybe a D. I dislike how much my breasts fold over and would like that reasonably gone. I have attached a picture of what I would like to have and would appreciate if someone could tell me if this is even reasonable, and if so how to achieve it. Thank you.

A: You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover! A mommy makeover is simply a combination of plastic surgical procedures designed to restore your figure after childbearing. The procedures involved depend on your needs. I would definitely recommend a full breast lift. You have significant breast sagging even with your arms raised above your head. A breast implant can be placed at the same time for fullness if needed. I can’t tell from the pictures if you would need one to achieve the breast volume you are seeking. A tummy tuck with liposuction would address the excess skin and fat around your middle and give you a nice hourglass shape. You are young and have one child. You need to remember that a future pregnancy could land you right back in the same condition. Many women choose to delay surgery until their family is complete.

Would lipo give me a flat stomach side view? For rear view maybe BBL would help round hips & illusion of smaller waste?

Would lipo give me a flat stomach side view? For rear view maybe BBL would help round hips & illusion of smaller waste?

Q: My BMI is 31 and have been stuck here for five years even with tons of cardio, eating sensibly & lifting weights. At age 37 I have a healthy resting heart rate of 58-61bps but still overweight at 30% body fat. At my heaviest years ago I was 210lbs (after having baby) now 170lbs and stuck here way too long šŸ™ Would just lipo help me or do I need a tummy tuck as well to get flat stomach? What do you think about combining above with fat transfer to hips/butt to achieve illusion of smaller waste?

A: I think you will get your best result from a Tummy Tuck with Brazilian Butt lift and possibly some additional liposuction. Performing liposuction alone on your abdomen will not address the underlying muscle looseness and will probably leave you with loose hanging skin. Pregnancy stretches the abdominal muscles. Unfortunately exercise and diet alone will not repair them – as you have seen. You have been very disciplined but have probably done as much as is possible without surgery. I perform these procedures together for healthy women in my surgery center outside Atlanta. I would suggest your next step would be a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Long-term planning for Tummy tuck?

Long-term planning for Tummy tuck?

Q: I have had 3 c-sections. I used to have really great abs, but after number 3, I still have enough of a tummy to look pregnant. I’m at a healthy weight and I like to exercise. My youngest is now 2 and I want to plan ahead to fix this when he is more independent and I can manage the recovery time. What kinds of exercises and preparations should I be making to get the best results? Pilates? Does any of that matter? I’ve got about a year before I’m ready. Advice?

A: It sounds like you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck– you are in good shape and at a healthy weight and are looking to restore your midsection after pregnancies. About a year before is a great time to start meeting with plastic surgeons. It will give you a chance to get a professional opinion about the best course to take and will give you plenty of time to arrange for post-operative childcare and time off work. Exercise and diet are important to good overall health but won’t repair the damage that multiple pregnancies can wreak on your body.
