Microdermabrasion Treatments

What are microdermabrasion treatments?

For those desiring permanent color, Micropigmentation is used. I embeds an organic pigment underneath the skin. It can be used to outline the eyes, add color to the lips and cheeks, enhance eyebrows and lips, and can effectively and permanently create the look of blush and eye shadow.

The skin is punctured hundreds of times per minute with a micro-thin needle that pushes the pigment into the desired area of the face.

Cost for microdermabrasion
Costs can vary based on individual patient needs and the amount of treatment required.

The costs involved in this procedure include facility fees, medical tests, Dr. Jimerson’s fee and any medication or any additional treatment that may be required. Our staff will provide you with a detailed cost estimate for your procedure.

Recovery
The microdermabrasion procedure requires no downtime. After your treatment is completed, we may prescribe a special moisturizer or other product to enhance and prolong the results achieved.
Procedure
In order to remove the top layer of your skin and promote new growth, Dr. Jimerson uses a special microdermabrasion wand. There are two types of microdermabrasion procedures:

One utilizes a hand-held device that sprays very small crystals across your skin, while a vacuum suctions up the crystals along with the dead and loosened skin.

A more current approach uses a diamond-tip wand to exfoliate your skin.

All you’ll feel is a mild scratching, and a vibrating sensation that’s similar to a massage.

Results
Your renewed look will last a long time, depending on the skin damage, the severity and the number of treatments that are required.

The usual protocol is to have two microdermabrasion treatments each month for the first several months, then one per month as part of your ongoing maintenance program.

Risks involved with microdermabrasion

As with any procedure, there are some potential risks or complications. You have to determine if the benefits that you’ll obtain from your procedure outweigh the risks involved.

Dr. Jimerson and his trained staff will do everything possible to minimize risks and post-operative complications. Risks may include:

  • Bruising from the suction device (temporary) • Sunlight sensitivity • Redness • Swelling • Dry and flaky skin (temporary)

Because of the sunlight sensitivity, it’s extremely important to use a sunscreen after your microdermabrasion procedure.

It’s important to discuss any concerns you have with Dr. Jimerson prior to your surgery. If you have a question – please ask!
