I’m 210 lbs and considering a Tummy Tuck. Is it advisable to perform a tummy tuck at this stage or should I first lose weight?

Hello, I am 5’6 currently my weight is 210 pounds, I have a large amount of saggy skin in my abdomen after 3 kids. Is it advisable to perform a tummy tuck at this stage or should I first loose some more weight? thank you

There are several reasons that I advise you to lose weight first. I ALWAYS advise my tummy tuck patients that they should be at their ideal weight before surgery. As you lose weight and volume, your skin becomes loose. If you have a tummy tuck first, you will like need another one after you lose weight. At your current weight, your surgical time will be increased. It is harder and more time consuming to perform the surgery on an overweight person than on one at their ideal body weight. This increased surgical time increases your risk for complications during and after the procedure. I also find there are more recovery and wound healing issues in overweight patients.
