Do I have enough fat for a bbl that will be long lasting?

Q: I would like a hourglass shape with a big booty. Do I have enough fat or would I be wasting my money?

A: Thank you for your question. It is difficult to answer your question fully because your pictures are from the waist up only. I can’t fully see your fat stores and your butt is not in the picture at all. I can’t see what you are starting with and I don’t know what look you wish to achieve. I perform several Brazilian Butt lifts each week in my Atlanta area surgery center. In general, the key to long lasting results from fat transfer to the butt is to maintain your preoperative weight. I can’t stress that enough. Some fat will not survive the transfer process. It’s difficult to predict exactly how much, but I estimate 70-80% of the transferred fat survives the surgery. Once the harvested fat is transferred to your butt, it behaves just like the fat everywhere else on your body – it grows and shrinks with fluctuations in your weight. I always like to remind my patients that there is an additional benefit to the Brazilian Butt Lift – it reshapes your entire midsection with liposuction. Even if you do lose a little weight, your new shape with a flatter abdomen and smaller waist is maintained. That’s why it is one of my favorite procedures!
